Crítica: Anna Karenina

El armiño le sienta bien.
El director inglés Joe Wright (“Hanna”, “Orgullo y Prejuicio”, “Expiación, Deseo y Pecado”) se especializa en adaptaciones cinematográficas de obras literarias de autores como Jane Austen o Ian McEwan, y esta vez se encargó de hacer una nueva versión para la pantalla grande de “Anna Karenina”, una de las obras más conocidas del ruso Leo Tolstoy.


Con un guión de Tom Stoppard, un conocido guionista y dramaturgo inglés que escribió “Shakespeare Enamorado” y “Brazil”, el director Joe Wright trajo a la producción su dirección profundamente estilizada. Esta nueva versión de esta historia de Tolstoy, con varias subtramas que siguen a personajes secundarios y la trama principal de la joven Anna Karenina envuelta en su trágico romance con un conde. 


“Anna Karenina” es un caso de estilo sobre substancia, ya que el guión sufre un poco debido a su al vestuario y decorados, de gran calidad, lo cual hace que la narrativa pierda fuerza en medio de la visualización del director (la historia de Anna sucede en un teatro en donde se representan sus escenas mientras que las escenas de Levin, un personaje secundario interpretado por Doomhall Gleeson, sucede en la verdadera Rusia). Las ideas de Wright tienen su razón de ser ya que la sociedad estaba dividida en dos: los campesinos, que vivían fuera de las grandes ciudades y hablaban en su lengua materna, y las clases altas, que emulaban a la sociedad parisina tanto en sus costumbres como en su idioma, inclusive algunos ni siquiera podían hablar su lengua materna. 

A pesar del particular método del director Joe Wright, los actores están correctos en sus papeles y la parte visual es deslumbrante, sólo resta saber si “Anna Karenina” pasará al olvido como otra adaptación más de la novela de Tolstoy o si el esfuerzo de Wright y compañía dará sus frutos y logrará perdurar en la memoria de los espectadores durante mucho tiempo.
